“Art is too important not to share”

Paintings for Purpose 2022

Organised by Swathi Women's Inspirational Group ‘Paintings for Purpose’ was held on 25 September 2022 at the Grand Hall, Mosman Art Gallery. It was a night of Art, Entertainment and Dinner in support of Palmera Projects by exhibiting artwork from many talented Artists and showcasing kids’ art received from Tamil children detained in Indonesia with their parents seeking asylum. The two main auctioning pieces of night were donated by Sydney artists Shailajah Mathusoothanan & Uma Jeyaseelan. Uma's painting 'Getting Ready' sold for AUD$6000, the net proceeds from this event will go towards Palmera Projects to help vulnerable families in Srilanka. (Images from Swathi Facebook page).

Paintings for Purpose 2019

In February 2019, Swathi Women's Inspirational Group held Paintings for purpose art exhibition to promote local creative talent and to raise funds for the benefit of the Children in Need in the Eastern Sri Lanka through 'Narayana Seva' Project. Many Sydney artists' paintings were exhibited and auctioned. Donated pieces by well known artist Manju Sripathma and Uma Jeyaseelan were the main paintings auctioned on the night. Uma's Painting 'High tea' sold for AUD$4750 and Swati ladies donated more than $11k to Narayana Seva Projects raised from this event. (Images from Swathi Facebook page).

Dinner for a Cause 2018

Dinner for a Cause was an event organised by The Sivan Arul team in Sydney to raise funds as well as awareness about all the projects that are currently running in the north of Sri Lanka by Sivan Arul Foundation . A part of this event included auctioning one of Uma's paintings purchased by Sivan Arul. The 'Flower market' art piece sold for AUD$2000 at the auction. (Images from unknown). 

A Way Out 2014

A Way Out was an Art Exhibition organised by Palmera Projects and Amnesty International 28 February - 1 March 2014 at Verge Gallery, Sydney. Uma created a large print and co-wrote and illustrated a children's book to be sold at this event. (Images from Palmera projects Facebook page).
